LEAKY FRIDGE VENT

Image
Finally found the lak in trailer, I hope. Water inside the bathroom after rain. Got on roof and found that the caulk around fridge vent had decayed. Cant really see under there easily.  Removed it and it was wet.  Cover was not sealed except on outside.  Has 32 screw holes, only 5 were used! Cleaned and resealed.  Be sure to check the seal around the vent on your trailer. The heat must degrade it. Plus poor install ti start.

DOOR GLASS

Image
Decided to get rid of the ugly door glass that is really just shower door glass. Put in one with tinted clear glass. Also has a blind in it. The old one on removal was leaking due to deterioration of seal. Preinstalled gasket on the new one. Simple install. The only bad is it is black trim while all our windows  are white

BRAKES

Image
The brakes on many trailers are electric. We have had a problem off and on with them not working. Not fun in the Rockies going down hill for miles with intermittent  brakes! We have a Prodigy P2 controller. When "n.c." showed up it meant no brakes. Spent a lot of money to have it checked out and they basicly wrapped electric  tape around exposed wires. And we still had the problem. I saw a video about them fraying in the axles where they cross over to other hub. Sure enough when I pulled the rear wire it has to areas of exposed wires. So I ran them outside the axles with sheathed marine grade wire. Finished product. lots of money for nothing. If you have this problem pull the wires and check. Dont rewire through the axle.

GAS STATION

Image
GAS STATION  Checked on our gas station and it didnt work and was wobbly. Took it apart box rubs against the switch which didnt work and 2 screws holding it together. Wonder if didnt fall off. Exposed metal on the edges. Installed a new waterproof  switch in waterproof  box. I know over kill but safer. Also put it inside the box with safety flip cover. We only use it for fuel for the generator.

Fan

put in a Maaxshade with light. It is led and has a shade. It's over a Maxxvent put in a couple of years ago. I went on the roof then and the old vent was brittle and breaking. Maxxvent is great.

Overview

I decide to start this blog after spending a lot of time on improving the build quality  of our trailer. Having been out of work since March  24th I've spent a lot of time doing improvements to it. Trailer build quality overall is pretty bad I think throughout the industry. I've done a lot to it and should of been documenting my work since the beginning.
